A thousand Splendid suns

I just finished this book. It follows two afghan women who end up married to the same man.
After finishing the book. I was watching NBC nightly news, and they were reporting from afghanastan. They had a report on the Afghan women. The report showed girls as young as 13 who were married off to men more than twice their age. Some of these "child brides", had set themselves on fire. In order to get out of the marriage. One girl died during the filming of the report. It just clicked for me that the two women in the book were both very young. They both were 15 when they maried.
I think that A thousand splendid suns is just as good as the author's first book, the kite runner. I give it a very high rading. 4 and above.

After the Fire: A True Story of Friendship and Survival

This book is amazing. I experienced a wealth of diferent emotions. Many of those emotions were due to the fact that I grew up in the area of the seton hall fire that is the focus of this book. I comtimplated transferring to Seton hall. This story will make you cry and make you cherish your friends and become thankful for your own life anf for your family.
I learned that friendship and family are two important parts of life. And never to take life or anyone important foregranted.
Finally, the Seton hall fire occurred a month and two days after I was treated in the saint bernanis hospital ER. and Burn unit. I was burned in a fire at my parents home in Vauxhall new jersey, which is only five or more minutes away. I interacted with many of the nurses and techs in the burn unit. I also witnessed many other patients being treated like myself. There were others who were more serious than I. But you can tell that the team in the burn unit really cared and are dedicated to their patients.
This book is one of my favorites. Its because it touched me in so many ways and I could picture the places that were mentioned, and I could feel the frustration and the anger that the characters in this true story experienced. I hope that the two young men who set the fire will end up serving their full sentences. I hope that they will someday reallize how their actions caused so much pain.
I give this book 10.0. I highly recommend it.

The Neighbor reviewBlog title...

I just finished the neighbor by lisa Gardner. It was a really good story. However, there were lots of twists and turns. I liked this book. However, I just wish that I knew where this story was headed. Sinse the book was good. I give it 5.0. I would recommend it for the mystery that it provides. But not for the characters. I didn't like any of them except for the little girl and the cat.

A lesson before dying review

A lesson before dying.
I have read things that made me sad, angry and or laugh out loud. I have even read things that had me do all of the emotions that I mentioned. This is the case with A lesson before dying.
This book tells a story of two men who have led two different lives.
Their paths cross when one is sent to the electric chair.
Gran is the schoolteacher asked by the godmother of Jefferson the condemned man to teach him to die like a man.
This story is very riveting. It will have you feeling a plethora of emotions. It made me angry, then made me laugh, and then it made me cry. No matter how many times I read this book I am moved , and learn something new from the book, about the characters, and about myself each time
What I have learned from this book is that being a teacher is more than teaching subjects for school. It is the fact that you teach throughout life. I also learned that we are always learning something new each day.
I would give this book a 10. Now to start reading something less emotionally charged.

love

I am still working on my power point presentation on Love. What should I put for the following: self-love, in love with the idea of being in love, Marrital love, unconditional love, and heartbreak. I am just stuck on these few topics. I am not completely lacking for material. It seems as there is something missing. Any suggestions on the topics I mentioned, or something that I haven't covered yet in the presentation.

I finished the girl with the dragon tattoo. I liked the book. However, I don't understand the excitement over this book. I certainly will not be reading the rest of the series.
